Privacy Policy
What stays on your machine, what goes to your AI provider, and what we collect.
This policy explains how Mooring, offered by TLA LLC, doing business as Plateau Lane Studios ("we," "us"), handles information. We've tried to write it the way we'd want it written for us — plainly, and without pretending the picture is simpler than it is.
The Short Version
Mooring runs on your own computer. Your files and your work stay on your machine — we don't collect them, and Mooring doesn't phone home to us with your business data.
But Mooring's intelligence comes from an AI model hosted in the cloud by a provider you bring yourself. When Mooring uses the AI, the content it's working on is sent to that provider to be processed. That part isn't local, and we want you to understand it clearly rather than imply your data never leaves your machine. It does — to your AI provider, under your own account.
What Stays On Your Machine
Mooring is a single-user application that runs locally. Your documents, your business files, the work Mooring produces, and your session history live on your computer. We don't have a copy. There is no telemetry or analytics that sends your business content back to us.
What Goes To Your AI Provider
To do its work, Mooring sends relevant content — the parts of a task the AI needs to see — to the AI provider you've configured (for example, Anthropic / Claude), using your own subscription. This happens directly between Mooring on your machine and your provider. We do not store, access, or sit in the middle of it.
How your provider treats that content — whether they retain it, use it for training, or anything else — is governed by their terms and privacy policy. We strongly encourage you to read them. Mooring's permission system is the control you use to decide what the AI is allowed to see and act on.
What We Do Collect
- Account & billing information. When you subscribe, our payment partner Paddle (the merchant of record) collects what's needed to process payment — such as your name, email, and payment details. Paddle handles this under their own privacy policy. We receive subscription status and the information needed to manage your account, not your full payment card details.
- License checks. To confirm your subscription is active, Mooring exchanges your license key with the billing service. This transmits your entitlement status — not your files or your work.
- Feedback reports (opt-in). If you choose to send a feedback or bug report from within Mooring, it goes to our systems and may become a tracked issue. These reports are tied to an anonymous identifier (a UUID), not your name or personal details, and we ask you not to include sensitive information in them.
- Contact form & email. If you contact us through the website form or by email, we receive what you send (your message and email address) so we can reply. The form is handled on our own infrastructure; no third-party marketing service touches it.
What We Don't Do
- We don't sell your information.
- We don't use your business content for advertising.
- We don't run third-party trackers or ad pixels in the Mooring application.
Your Controls
- Use Mooring's permission system to control what the AI sees and does.
- Feedback reports are opt-in — don't send them if you'd rather not.
- Your local data is yours; you can delete it from your machine at any time.
- You can cancel your subscription whenever you like (see the Terms of Service).
- To ask what account information we hold, or to have it removed, contact us.
Changes To This Policy
Because Mooring is pre-launch, this policy will change as the product matures. We'll update this page and the "last updated" date when it does.
